Prachi Bakarania DPT, BSPTS, C2, Schroth Therapist

Prachi Bakarania, DPT, is a leading Physical Therapist with 17 years of experience, specializing in scoliosis and conditions that affect the spine. She is an advanced clinician specializing in the Barcelona Schroth (BSTPS) and Scientific Exercise Approach to Scoliosis (SEAS) methods. She received her Doctor of physical therapy degree from Boston University in 2006. Prachi has published several articles and is co-director of Columbia University Medical Center's successful annual scoliosis conference. As co-director of the Non-Operative Scoliosis & Spine Care Clinic at Columbia University, she works alongside pediatric and adult spine orthopedic surgeons, pain management specialists, and orthotists in a multidisciplinary setting to provide best in class treatment for her patients.

She has published studies on exercise compliance, bracing in idiopathic scoliosis and perceptions of surgeons surrounding physical therapy and PSSE. Current research projects include examining the impact of pre-operative physical therapy on patient outcomes for those undergoing spinal fusion surgery. Prachi mentors US and international physical therapists on best practices for spine-related conditions. Prachi has worked tirelessly to create a positive clinical setting, and is one of the few in the country that accepts most insurance plans. She is a strong believer in equal access of health care for patients.

In her free time, she spends most of her time with her family and friends, and she is learning to play the piano.
