She is happy, healthy, and thriving.

Marielle is a girl who first came to Dr. Vitale at 10 months of age for a second opinion of her Idiopathic Infantile Scoliosis. She initially presented with a major curve of 30 degrees and a minor curve of 12 degrees, and Dr. Vitale recommended observation. Dr. Vitale saw her again when she was 18 months old and her major curve had progressed to 32 degrees. Given her curve progression and young age, Dr. Vitale recommended proceeding with Mehta casting. Three casts were applied which gradually corrected her major curve down to 13 degrees and her minor curve down to 7 degrees. After the third cast, Dr. Vitale transitioned two-year-old Marielle to a brace. She subsequently wore the brace full-time for 18 months until discontinued by Dr. Vitale. At this point, Marielle was three and a half years old and her major and minor curves measured 8 and 7 degrees respectively.

Dr. Vitale continues to see Marielle yearly, and at her most recent visit, fourteen-year-old Marielle had curves that have remained small at 12 and 18 degrees through her rapid adolescent growth spurt. She is happy, healthy, and thriving.
